Jinko Solar is pushing a 23% solar panel in the lab now. In the 72 cell format, it will have an even higher value. This is awesome in that it is coming from someone that plans to offer this solar panel at 40¢/W. Looking forward to it.

edit – This is a bifacial solar panel. So (slightly) less awesome, as we know about the potential of bifacial already. Still awesome though as seeing the manufacturer start to make big headlines with bifacial solar panels means institutional confidence in the product is rising. Expect aggressive price per watt falls from those who can make use of this technology (single axis trackers and white rooftops for exampe).

Leading ‘Silicon Module Super League’ (SMSL) member JinkoSolar has set further records by setting new P-type and N-type PV module power ratings ahead of the largest annual industry exhibition, SNEC in Shanghai, JinkoSolar said that it had set the record for a P-type monocrystalline module (60-cell) format peak power rating of 370W and an N-type monocrystalline module (60-cell) format peak power rating of 378.6W.
