A 3% increase isn’t trivial – celebrate our incremental innovation. If a solar panel is at 16-20% already – it’ll add 0.5-0.6% more in efficiency. Over 30 years – that adds up. This is the technology that has helped SunPower stay at the lead of efficiency, and – in general – mirrors the trend of limiting busbars and other things blocking sunlight on the front of the panel.

Expect this technology to dominate in the long game.

DSM, a global science-based company, recently launched a Conductive backsheet for high power back-contact solar modules capable of increasing solar module energy output by 3%. This new technology ushers in a new era of lossless conductivity (i.e. zero cell to module loss) in high-power modules thanks to an efficient design that connects neighboring cells to transport more power from the module.
